Hi!

We are a mother-daughter team pursuing our dreams as women in science, constantly learning about and adopting sustainable lifestyles, and rebuilding our lives after loss.

Currently, we are organizing our very first virtual beach clean up! The third Sunday of every month, we go down to a local beach and pick up trash that is polluting our coastlines. We encourage you to join us!

On the third Sunday of the month, go to your local beach, park, river, lake, or anywhere else in your community where you’ve noticed a lot of trash. Bring a bucket, positive attitude, and take lots of pictures! Then post on social media using our hashtag #jayandshellsvirtualbeachcleanup or #alohabeachhealing. When you’re done, look through the hashtags to see all the people around the globe who just beautified the world with you!

Our goal and wish is to make this as easy and accessible as possible; unifying the world in an effort to protect nature. Click the tab Virtual Beach Clean Up/Sustainability in our menu to read more about sustainability and the virtual beach clean up!

We never thought our lives would be so full of joy, passion and excitement again when our dear husband and daddio Art died from stage four pancreatic cancer in December of 2014. Everything felt lost; our identities and futures dissipated into the air with his last breath.

Yet, we kept pushing onwards. We discovered new truths about ourselves, and step by step we built our new lives with grief. It wasn’t easy, and we do still have bad days. Our grief is a crucial part of our journey, and we never would have reached this exciting point in our lives if our grief didn’t push us to do so. We still write about our grief, and you can read more on our relationship with grief under the Stories with Grief tab on our menu.

We also took our experiences and created a prompted grief journal to help other grievers navigate their own journeys. We are currently self-published and available on Amazon. Click here to check out our Grief Journal by Jay and Shell!

Whether you are a griever, interested in sustainability and the beach clean up, or both; thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading our website. We are sending so much love and aloha from our hearts to yours.

If you want to learn more about our story and who we are, please read the About Us and Our Journey tab on our menu.

Aloha and gratitude,
Jay and Shell🌺
